On Sunday, June 30, thousands were left without power as trees and tree limbs were strewn about the area, including a stretch of I-95 that was left closed in Darien due to a downed tree.

According to the Fairfield Police Department, there was also a fatality during a storm, when a tree struck a local resident’s vehicle, killing a 54-year-old man on Sturges Highway. A deck also collapsed on Rhode Island Avenue, injuring six people who were treated for non-life threatening injuries at an area hospital.

The storm system, which was caused by a cold front, wrapped up by about 3 p.m., bringing about cooler temperatures and less humidity.
